On the whole, it is used for at least three reasons, such as job prospects or academic work, but its main purpose is to prove your English-speaking skills.

All four sections, namely listening, reading, writing, and speaking, each have their own score range from 0-30.

The reading component has three levels, as well as a speaking component. In addition, three speaking tasks are offered; personal interview, academic lecture, and general conversation.

There are two parts of the written exam: Essay and Letter. When you choose this option, you’ll need to take both parts.

The Speaking part of the written exam consists of an interactive dialogue where you answer questions about a short video clip and perform a monologue on a given scenario, which will then be evaluated, in the writing section of the exam,

The Letter Task and the Essay Task test your abilities to realistically address an idea or solve a problem. If you are trying to get certified to sit the IELTS test, you must first complete the IELTS application form and provide the basics about yourself such as your name, address, contact information, and your country of citizenship.

Candidates can submit any number of passport photos but must keep them safe, as they will not be returned after submitting their application form. You should also allow enough time before your test date so that you do not need to retake the examination.

Finally, make sure that you read all of the instructions carefully so that you know what to expect when taking the examination. To ensure fairness, it’s important to arrive on time and bring only necessary items with you, for example, no watches, electronic devices, or books should be brought into the testing room.

After completing the tests and leaving your belongings in the designated locker outside of the testing room, you will meet up with a staff member who’ll tell you whether or not you passed.

Once you pass the test, you’ll receive a certificate (UKVI IELTS Certificate) that lists the scores for each part of the examination. And now let’s go through some tips for doing well on your exams

How to check the IELTS UKVI result

Remember that UKVI IELTS scores expire two years from when they were issued, the score reports have your name, date of birth, nationality, and whether you passed or not, scores range from 0 to 9,000, so if you scored 781 out of 990 possible points then the score report says pass.

The pass mark for most countries is typically 6.0 (although this varies) but do check before taking the test. Your IELTS result won’t be sent back to institutions until they ask for it. So if you apply for university study in September 2017, for example, your first UCAS application is unlikely to include any mention of your IELTS result.

But if you don’t make the grades needed and try again in January 2018, you might find a school has requested information about your previous performance – including details about any previous English language qualifications, your score report will come with some advice about what you should do next.

It may recommend that you take more time to improve your English skills, for instance, or enroll in an Intensive Language Programme such as International House London’s ELI course before re-taking the exam.

That said, we’d strongly advise against using your IELTS result to make major life decisions such as applying for a visa. If you plan to take the test outside of Britain and Northern Ireland, please visit our International page

Can IELTS UKVI be used in Canada?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular high-stakes English language proficiency test with 2.2 million tests taken in 2016 alone. You should take the TOEFL or CAE if you are not applying for a visa to the UK, but need proof of your English abilities for any other reason.

A person’s English reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills are measured in four sections: Reading: test takers will be assessed on their reading skills in two stages: first they will read a text passage on a topic they don’t know, and then they will answer comprehension questions; the next step is to read five passages on familiar topics using multiple choice, listening: they will listen to three recorded conversations in a variety of situations and then answer some questions about what they heard.

Who accepts UKVI IELTS?

How much does it cost to take a UKVI IELTS test?

The cost of a UKVI IELTS test depends on what type of test you’re taking.

Here are some common prices for the UKVI IELTS tests;

  • IELTS General Training: $190 CAD Can be booked online, by phone or in person
  • IELTS Academic: $220 CAD. Can be booked online, by phone or in person. Some schools prefer that you book your test through them and may not accept outside booking.

If you don’t have enough money to pay for your test, consider asking friends or family for help. Many IELTS providers offer scholarships and bursary opportunities to students who need financial assistance.

How do I prepare for a UKVI IELTS test?

To get ready for a UKVI IELTS test, you’ll need to take time to learn about the English language and literacy skills. The first thing to consider is whether you should take an ESL (English as a Second Language) or EFL (English as a Foreign Language) course.

The UKVI IELTS test measures how well you can use and understand English, and it is required for many visas, including student and work visas. It includes four sections: a visa requires a minimum score of 6 in each of these sections.

You will need this type of visa if you do not qualify for a General Training Visa. Sections are scored from 0 to 9, with 9 being the highest. People without academic credentials who wish to study can also apply for a student visa if their country does not have an educational system similar to ours.

There are two types of general visas: Tier 4 (study) and Tier 5 (work). An examiner will assess your skills as part of the application process. Don’t forget that you can book up to six months in advance, so start early! To make sure you get the scores you want, take practice tests as often as possible.

Remember that while speaking is not tested on the IELTS, speaking abilities are considered by immigration officers when they evaluate applications. For example, some universities require students to attend a one-hour interview during which their oral skills will be assessed.

A key difference between IELTS and TOEFL is that TOEFL tests only written English whereas IELTS has both spoken and written components. The downside of TOEFL is that it does not measure one’s ability to understand spoken English as well as IELTS does.
